T.G. Baker (Sound) was established in 1973 by Tom Baker and has grown over the past 50 years from a one-person operation into a leading sound and communications company. Today, it employs over 40 staff across two regional offices in Glasgow and Blackburn.

Initially located in Glasgow city centre, the company experienced consistent growth, prompting a move to larger headquarters in Clydebank to accommodate its expanding operations.

Ongoing business development in England and Wales led to the acquisition of Pension Electrical and the opening of a regional office in Manchester in 1992.

Having supplied loudspeakers to the installation and construction sectors for many years, the company expanded its product offering in 2000 by acquiring Premier Acoustic Ltd—a provider of high-quality loudspeakers and power amplifiers.

Continued success highlighted the need for larger facilities and additional personnel. In 2006, this was addressed through the acquisition of Romers, a sound and CCTV installation firm based in Blackburn, Lancashire. The Manchester office was subsequently relocated to Blackburn, bringing enhanced premises, increased stock capacity, and a broader client base. This strategic move enabled the company to diversify into new sectors including CCTV, TV distribution, and access control. Sound, surveillance, and PAVA systems became core specialisms, attracting high-profile clients across the UK and Ireland.

In 2025, T.G. Baker (Sound) entered a new chapter with its acquisition by SSUK Limited, continuing its legacy of excellence in sound and communication solutions.
